The thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus: dog-headed pouched-dog) is a large carnivorous marsupial. It is also known as the Tasmanian Tiger or Tasmanian Wolf. It is now thought to be extinct and the last ever known thylacine survived until 1936. It was the only member of the family Thylacinidae to survive into modern times from the order Dasyuromorphia.
