Biology of Dromiciops gliroides (Monito del monte) Microbiotheria

Microbiotheria is an australidelphian marsupial order that encompasses two families, Microbiotheriidae and Woodburnodontidae.

Currently Microbiotheria is represented by 2 living species from Southern Argentina and Chile, the monito del monte (Dromiciops gliroides Thomas, 1894) and the monito de pancho (D. bozinovici D’Elia et al. 2016.

There is also a number of extinct species known from fossils in South America, Western Antarctica, and northeastern Australia.
